Students from the post-secondary technical college Fondazione ITS Logistica Sostenibile will manage operations in a training warehouse using Mecalux’s Easy WMS software. In this facility in Bologna (Italy), students from the further education programmes in logistics and mobility of goods will develop their skills in a real-world environment.
“Our training courses focus on technical specialisation and the development of new skills that meet companies’ demands. With the Mecalux software, our students will learn how to plan, manage and control goods flows. They’ll also acquire skills to optimise operations, improve efficiency and adapt to the constant technological advancements in the market,” says Giuseppe Bardelli, Director of the Fondazione ITS Logistica Sostenibile.
The training centre chose Easy WMS because it is a common software solution widely used in numerous warehouses, which will facilitate training for future logistics industry workers. The system has been implemented in over 1,100 facilities across more than 36 countries to manage both manual and automated operations.
Students will simply need to follow the software’s step-by-step instructions to execute operations. For example, they will see that for order picking, Easy WMS designs routes within the warehouse to minimise travel distances. By following its instructions, operators complete orders more quickly and accurately.
The software also features dashboards and comparative graphs with comprehensive information about warehouse operations. Students will use this knowledge to make strategic decisions based on real data.
By implementing Easy WMS in its further education facility, Fondazione ITS Logistica Sostenibile will strengthen its commitment to state-of-the-art training aligned directly with the needs of today’s job market. Students will benefit from an immersive experience using this leading technological tool. The insight they gain will better prepare them to tackle logistics industry challenges, contributing to business innovation and competitiveness on a global scale.
